Shanghai meeting with the MeziMedia team (January 2009)

I had an excellent trip to Shangahi. It was much different that Shenzhen as it was a more sophisicated and technology based city. I arrived on Sunday night after a 15 hour flight on China Eastern (The cheapest airline ever). Our tickets cost $700 round trip, but you could not reserve a seat so arriving early was the key. We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Shanghai (right across the street from the St Regis) it had just been remodeled and was very nice. The MeziMedia office was about 3 blocks away so a nice easy (but brisk) walk to the office. It was very cold in Shanghai with temps in the low 40’sF at night.

We found a great restraunt the Blue Frog right below the Oriental Pearl, which we went to the top to view all of Shangahi.

We visisted MeziMedia’s China data center hosted at China Telecom. It was very interesting site. They have a much different view on racking servers and sharing networks than we do
